Wow. Really made me think, and it's great seeing the perspective of someone that isn't a Christian and actually is trying to get a feel. How crazy that the only place he was really 'moved by Jesus and felt the love of Christians was at the 'Holy Land' theme park?
One thing that is very telling that he said was, "Christians should be building bridges... not trying to blow them up."
yeah, what caught my attention was kinda what Lani said, isn't it amazing that the place where he most "felt God" was during the crucification, when he stood there and watched others crying, when others let the brokenness of Jesus on the cross meet their reality of brokenness, and the hope that comes from the cross. No words were needed to be spoken, no one needed to try to influence him that this was a moving moment... it just was.
Where he was most turned off, was when the words came, when people tried to convince him, when they tried to "tell" him why... and I know he was asking, but I'm learning more and more that it's not gonna happen through my words as eloquent or convincing as they may be, but through the life of Jesus living through me, in my life reflecting Jesus in actions, in integrity, not in spouting off scripture - that's for my personal growth, that's to build up fellow believers.
He will be shown, and known through our love.
i actually appreciated more of it than i originally thought whenever I see a cbc or some tv network do a story on something with christians. I loved the xxxchurch guy, and the facing the giants director, and the holy land experience, wow. i know he was kind of turned off by the san antonio film guy and the teen mania guy but what excites me is it seemed like he was really touched by his time at the holy land and something in his heart was ignited at the time of Jesus's crucifixion. regardless of the cell phone ringing I pray that Mark would remember that time and the words of "Jesus" is your heart hole or do you have a hole in your heart. this challenges me again my goal is to first love people for who they are, not so I can save them, God change my perspective once again. and bless Mark in his journey.
